Livestrong bracelet is a fund raising item founded by Lance Armstrong Foundation in May 2004. This foundation was started by Lance Armstrong so that he could raise fund for cancer victims. Livestrong Wristband is a yellow silicone wristband used to support cancer patients. Livestrong bracelets are sold so that the money can be used for cancer research, cancer awareness, and to encourage cancer patients to live their life to the fullest. The foundation was able to raise about $25 million by selling these bands.
Lance Armstrong chose yellow color because it is the color of yellow jersey which is worn by the leader Tour de France. This band gained popularity worldwide in the year 2004. Some famous personalities like John Kerry, Katie Couric, Matt Damon and many other personalities wore the band. On seeing this, many other charities started using wristbands to support their cause. Silicone wristbands are known by different names such as awareness bands, spirit bracelets, cancer bands, reminder bands etc.
